Scary Day

Yesterday morning started out scary.  We received a call for assistance with a cat that had been seen get hit by a car and ran into the woods the day before.  Though they searched for Kiki for hours, they couldn’t find her.  The owners spent a night in agony thinking of how Kiki was suffering alone in the woods.

Thankfully Kiki returned the next morning but clearly was not feeling well.

That’s when we got the call for assistance.  We picked up Kiki from her Kings Park home and took her to West Hills Animal Hospital.  They took her in immediately, a quick ultrasound showed no internal bleeding and though uncomfortable, ability to be able to put weight on all four limbs suggested there were no broken bones either.

We are so grateful to everyone at West Hills and Dr. Dicker who was so efficient and helpful.  They are all amazing there and highly recommend.  He suggested that though she was banged up and likely bruised, a week of keeping in a cage with few doses of pain medication and much love and tender care, Kiki should be all better.

Took Kiki back home and set her up in a cage. Went back later that night to check up on her and assist with administering her medication, and we will continue to do so until her prescription is complete.

We are very happy to be able to help this family and Kiki when they needed us and all relieved that she is doing well.  A day well spent with a good ending.

We don’t always share everything we are all doing, usually to busy running around jiggling rescue work with our own families and obligations but rest assure we are all doing as much as possible each day.

We hope you’ll consider becoming a sustaining member of Northport Cat Rescue. Every little bit helps and we are grateful for all your help.
