Northport Cat Rescue has had one heck of a year. We had a record number of adoptions, which would never have been possible without all our wonderful supporters sharing our stories. A simple, “hey thought you might be interested in this little fur baby or know someone who may be” is sometimes all it takes to make a match made in Heaven. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
What we post are mostly the tales of a beautiful kitten or cat that may have started out dire and ended up safe and loved and ready for adoption. So much more happens behind the scenes. Decisions must be made, who do we help, or who can we help, sadly it is nearly impossible to help every call that comes in. Sometimes a cat will come to us that we know is going to cost our rescue much needed funds, and we accept them into rescue anyway, because that is what we do. Every life matters. That is what our supporters have allowed us to do. Sometimes they will cost us more than we technically can afford, but we pay the cost to help a life. How could we not? We find ourselves in this predicament now with two amazing stories of two warriors. Both cats, that have lived their entire lives, one just a little over a year, and another over 11 years, fighting to live happily ever after. We believe they are almost there. We are asking for help with these two. If every one of our followers donated just a small amount, it would help us so much.
Without further ado, please meet Dusty and Bastian:
Dusty is a little over one year old. He was found in a dusty shed, all alone. He was taken into rescue and not long after, his Foster Mom noticed despite his great appetite, he threw up quite often. He was taken to the vet, and it was discovered that he was born with a condition called Congenital Mega Esophagus.
Dusty’s Foster mom has gone above and beyond to make sure Dusty is taken care of. She holds him in an upright position after every meal and our rescue has provided a special elevated feeder, special soft food and medicine, and frequent vet care to make sure Dusty is comfortable and content. Dusty is a tiny little doll, and probably will remain that way always. He will be having one more procedure that the vet feels very positive about, and our hope is that he will be able to live happily ever after with just a little bit of help. It has been quite costly for our rescue, but we would do it again if we had to. To meet this sweet darling, is to love him. He is tiny but mighty for sure. Fearless and a pure joy.
