Many of our cats and kittens rescued by Northport Cat Rescue are first cared for by our wonderful foster homes. We provide all medical care and supplies to support our fosters in every way possible. Once rescued, we foster all kittens until old enough to be spayed/neutered and complete their vaccinations, before they can be ready for adoption. The time with their fosters is also a perfect opportunity for kittens to receive all the socialization they need. They are loved and cared for in the best way possible.
Cats we rescue, even though older, still need to spend some time in our foster homes, to socialize, or recover from an injury, or to be treated for an illness or an infection. Sometimes, they just need to recuperate from a trauma and learn again to trust humans. Once we rescue a cat or a kitten, we never give up before we see them off to a loving home of their own. While some cats can be ready for adoption in a couple of weeks, others can take months.
